Probably TMI...

I'm a mother now, so I'm entitled to over share. Right?

This past week, Charlotte and I have taken advantage of me being on break and have been napping together. Today she didn't want to nap on her own (go figure). I tried to lay down with her and feed her so she'd finally nap. Once she fell asleep, I tried my best to get up without waking her... this was the result:

Mime baby.

Charlotte's first...

Today, Charlotte laughed for the very first time. Her dad had ducked into the house mid-morning to grab a bite to eat and talk to Charlotte. While I was holding her, Aaron made funny faces, talked, and laughed. His laughter is what triggered her first laugh, followed by several squeals of delight. It was the happiest sound in the world.

Yesterday, Charlotte also experienced another first, albeit slightly less exciting: Her first shopping trip.

Here's how the day went in pictures:

Here we go...

This is my feeble attempt to chronicle our lives every few days since my memory is absolutely dreadful. I get very emotional when I think of a time I won't be able to remember these wonderful first few years of Charlotte's life, so here we are.

This is Charlotte at the hospital. Less than 3 months later, I barely remember her being so tiny. I do remember that KY they put in her hair to keep the bow in. The bow fell out after 30 minutes while the KY lasted for at least a week. Changing her clothes was the most traumatic part of every day for me since I was convinced I was going to break her by pulling her onesies over her head, so the first few weeks, she was dressed solely in snap front or zipper front sleepers. Once I ventured to dress her in onesies again, I pulled them up from the bottom. Problem solved!

This is Charlotte today. She will be 12 weeks old on Thursday. The past couple of weeks, she's really become very vocal. She'll yell, talk, coo, etc. She is a morning person and is a very happy baby (until 7 pm rolls around). She's been smiling a lot for the past month.

She's also begun to suck her little thumb (which is a godsend/curse). Last night, she slept all the way through the night for the very first time. She probably would have done this a week ago, but I kept waking her up at 3 am to feed her since I was convinced she would die without eating for a few hours.

In the evenings, Charlotte is especially cranky. Nothing I do will help her sleep but it seems like the second her head hits her dad's chest, she relaxes and finally sleeps. I try not to take it personally. :)

There's my pathetic briefing of our first three months as parents. It has been terrifying and better than I could have imagined.
